About 10% of the stores in Mecca that cater exclusively to woman are expected to be closed down in the next three months due to their failure to employ female staff in the stores, reported Al Arabiya news.
A member of the Chamber of Commerce in Mecca, Hassan Kensara, said that they conducted a job fair. Around 18 companies participated in the event to hire employees for their shops. More than 400 women were interviews and about 80% of them were hired.
These companies offered a salary of nearly SR 4,000 a month, including social and health insurances. The Chamber of Commerce also plans to unify the work timings for all women’s stores to either 3pm-11pm or 3pm-12am including a break time.
