Civil Defense members recovered 2 more bodies from a pond in Ramah, 112km North East of the Saudi capital of Riyadh early this morning, bringing the total death toll to 6. All of the women who drowned were aged between 18 and 25 years and came from a single family.
4 bodies were recovered yesterday after which Civil Defense teams intensified their search operations leading to the discovery of 2 more bodies this morning. The 6 women were the daughters of two brothers, one of whom collapsed on hearing the news and was taken to the hospital.
Reports say that one of the 6 women had fallen into the pond while picnicking in Ramah valley and the rest drowned to death in an attempt to rescue her.
Civil Defense member Maj.Gen.Muhammad Al-Hammadi expressed his condolences over the death of the six women and urged the public to be on alert while picnicking in flooded areas.
