women's playsTheater productions with all-female crews are finding a niche in the capital city of Riyadh. The plays aim to entertain the Riyadh womenfolk as it is performed  exclusively for an all-female audience.

The plays showcase social issues faced by women, including marriage and taking care of children and also about issues such as caring for people with special needs, reported Al Arabiya news.

Saudi theatrical productions lack financial support and the necessary infrastructure. About four years ago, a women-only production was created mainly to enlighten women about some of the issues faced by the women in Saudi.

A Saudi actress told Al Arabiya that more support was required for the all-female play productions. The actress said that they are given opportunities during Ramadan and Eid, and that assistance for advertising the plays was necessary during the remaining months.

Of late, women-only plays have become a regular attraction during Ramadan and Eid celebrations in Riyadh. Even with the limited advertisements, many women come to see the performances.
