The US Geological Survey (USGS) reported that a magnitude 7.8 earthquake has struck south-east Iran.

The epicentre of the huge quake was 86km (53 miles) from the city of Khash in Sistan Baluchistan province, near Pakistani border.

Tremors were felt across the Middle East while tall buildings swayed in the Indian capital New Delhi reported BBC.

Iranian state TV said at least 40 people have been killed by the earthquake near the Iran-Pakistan border.The quake was reportedly felt in the cities of Karachi and Quetta.

Witnesses reported that tall buildings shook in India’s capital of  New Delhi, sending   people running into the streets. Residents said that people also evacuated shaking buildings in Qatar and Dubai.

Reports  also say that tremors were felt in Kuwait as well as  Dammam and Al-Khobar in Eastern Saudi Arabia.
