The robbers stole a cash box containing Dhs 2 million, which was headed for a Dubai Islamic Bank ATM in the premises of a Lulu shopping complex. The ATM heist that took place in broad daylight in front of hundreds of morning shoppers has shocked witnesses and Dubai residents alike.
Eyewitness reports say that the security personnel was about to fill cash in one of the four ATMs present in the area when two masked assailants attacked him with the stun gun. Stun guns are small palm-held, electric-shock producing devices that can incapacitate targets using non-lethal electric shocks that disrupt muscle functions. “The guard fell to the ground within seconds after taking a few hits, as if paralysed,” said the head of security at Lulu hypermarket.
After one of the men took the money box, the two escaped in a getaway car that was waiting nearby. Dubai Police has launched a manhunt after obtaining clues from the CCTV footage within the shopping complex premises, reported Gulf News.
