General Administration of Education in Riyadh region announced the suspension of classes in schools on Thursday following a heavy sand storm that hit the city, Saudi daily Al Yaum reported.
It was announced that schools in Riyadh, Dir’iyya, Huraimilaa, Thadiq, Rimah, Darmaa, Al Muzahimiya as well as the Al Muzahimiya branch of King Saud University will be closed.
The General Directorate for Civil Defence has warned residents to take extra caution and follow safety instructions. Residents have also been advised to stay at home since visibility was expected to drop in Jawf, Hail, Qassim and Riyadh. The sandstorm is expected to move towards the Eastern province and Najran.
