The Criminal Court in Riyadh sentenced three Saudi nationals and acquitted two others on Sunday, local media reported.

The 3  defendants were accused of supporting the actions of the deviant group, planning to assassinate seven U.S. citizens in Saudi Arabia  during an Al-Qaeda campaign attack in the Kingdom between 2003 and 2006,  and supporting  terrorist acts.

The three defendants were sentenced to 6 years of jail time; two of them  were given a travel ban for 6 years . Their computers, CDs with secret information and mobile phones were confiscated. The court had rejected the Prosecutor’s request for their death sentence. Around 3,000 suspects are being tried or due to go on trial, according to Saudi authorities.
