Hanan Aldoshi, who was admitted at the King Fahd Hospital in Jizan for treatment of sickle cell anemia, received contaminated blood transfusion due to a medical error resulting in her death, newspaper “Okaz” reported today.
Hanan’s brother, Idris said the state of his sister’s health deteriorated rapidly during the 14 days after the contaminated blood transfusion.
Two days since her last blood transfusion, Hanan began to feel pain all over her body and was admitted to the intensive care unit after bacteria was detected in her blood. Soon after, Hanan’s condition deteriorated rapidly and she passed away.
Idris said that he had requested that his sister be transferred to a specialist hospital but his request was not responded to.
