President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation Mr. Abdul Hakim bin Mohammed Al-Tamimi was quoted as saying that the initial opening of Jeddah’s new King Abdul Aziz International Airport will take place in May 2018.

Tamimi said that the new airport includes 810,000 square meters of terminals, 200 counters design for completion of travel procedures and 80 self-service counters.

Developing Hajj and Umrah organizations and services in the Kingdom is among the top priorities of the Saudi government and an extension of the country’s historic role in serving Muslims and Islam.

Vision 2030 includes a strategic and comprehensive plan to develop this sector, as per which, building the capacity to 30 million pilgrims and Umrah visitors in the coming years, is included.
