Yanbu, located on the west coast of Saudi Arabia is one of the oldest cities in the kingdom. T.E.Lawrence, popularly known as “Lawrence of Arabia”, once lived in this traditional Arab house in old Yanbu, on the Red Sea.
When the first World War started, Turkey got on the opposite side of Britain and France. When the Arab Revolt against the Turks broke, , Lawrence became an intelligence officer in Cairo and helped the Arabs achieve military success.
The once elegant building is now ruined and crumbling , surrounded by rubble. Delicate woodwork may be seen peeling off the balconies.
