A man and his wife were at the movies to watch an afternoon show of ‘Lone Survior’ in Wesley Chapel, a city in Florida. The man was texting his 3-year-old daughter during the previews when he was asked to stop using his phone by the man behind him. Despite repeated requests by the now-irate man, the man kept on using his cellphone.
According to eye witnesses, the offended man went out of the movie hall to fetch a manager. He returned without one and confronted the cellphone user. One of the men through a tub of popcorn at the other, and the next thing, the toddler’s father was shot. According to New York Times, an off-duty cop detained the gunman, while the victim was attended to by a nurse in the audience.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died. The gunman, an 71-year-old retired police officer, was arrested for murder. Officials said that Monday’s incident was an isolated one.
