MERS-CoV MapThe Ministry of Health in Saudi Arabia confirmed two more deaths by the SARS-like diseases in Al Ahsa and in the capital city of Riyadh. The total death toll around the world has now risen to 42.

The report from the ministry stated that an elderly man and an elderly woman who were earlier tested positive for the Middle East respiratory syndrome CoronaVirus (MERS-CoV) died from it. Three others who had been diagnosed with the disease have recovered.

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), the MERS-CoV is transmitted when people come in close contact with those who are infected with the virus. WHO said that visitors, especially those on pilgrimage to the kingdom, should take precautions while travelling the countries where the virus is found. The other countries that reported deaths by the MERS-CoV are Jordan, Qatar, UAE, Tunisia, France, Germany, Italy, and UK.
