In the video ‘Dark Horse’, Perry’s new single, a man wearing a pendant that spells out ‘Allah’ in Arabic. The singer who plays the role of a fickle queen turns the man and his necklace to dust.
According to Hazn Iqbal, a young British citizen of Pakistani origin, a campaign was launched to remove the video because it portrays blasphemy. He said that the video has caused outrage among British Muslims as it disrespects their feelings.
Iqbal called on all Muslims to send letters of protest to YouTube and to sign the petition to delete the video. He also called on demanding an apology by the singer to Muslims across the world, reported Sabq news.
The petition at change.org has already received over 60,000 signatures from people from Saudi Arabia and the other Gulf and Muslim countries, Pakistan, Britain, and America.
