Saudi Arabian airlines flight 1126 from Jeddah to Dammam narrowly escaped disaster on Wednesday after a flock of birds hit the aircraft while it was preparing to land at the King Fahd Airport in Dammam.
Though the birds damaged the nose cone and the front window of the plane, the pilot and the co-pilot managed to safely land the aircraft, reported Sabq news. Fortunately, no passenger injuries were reported.
Bird strikes can pose considerable threat to flight safety. The plane was later taken out of service for repairing the damages. Bird-strike damages to an aircraft are not serious, however, it usually proves fatal for the birds.
