shura councilAccording to sources, a personal affairs law will soon be proposed to the Shura Council in Saudi Arabia. The law, if passed, will prevent marriage of minor girls without a court order.

The law will also set the minimum maturity age of 18 years for both genders. Women will also have the right to add a divorce clause in their marriage contract in case the husband marries a second time, besides granting wives the right to stay in their marital home in case divorce is not finalized.

Akhbaar24 news reported that the personal affairs law, which will be soon proposed to the Saudi advisory body, includes laws to regulate family relations and rights of children, women, and families. Additionally, the law will introduce equality for women and men in all provisions.
