The Civil Defense in the Saudi capital of Riyadh received more than 3632 reports yesterday during the hours of 6 pm and 12:30 am after road traffic was disrupted and people were trapped on flooding streets. People in Riyadh are urged to remain indoors until the floods subside.

Spokesman of the Ministry of Education Mohammad Aldkhina announced the suspension of classes in general education schools on Nov 17 following heavy rain in Riyadh.

The classes will be also be suspended at the Imam Mohammed Bin Saud Islamic University, King Saud University, Princess Nora Bint Abdulrahman University and King Saud Bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences.

According to Riyadh Civil Defense spokesman Lt. Col. Muhammad Al-Hamadi, rain was most intense in the south-west region of Riyadh namely Al Hair, Al Shafa, Namar, Dirab, Al Sweidi and Exits 5 & 6.

No deaths were reported. Security and Civil Defense teams in the area are prepared to deal with any emergencies that may arise.
