Carol Fleming Al-Ajroush, author of popular blog “America Bedu” is a well known name in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Her  bold and candid blog gives an insight to the life of an expatriate woman in Saudi Arabia.

Carol  describes her blog as “a mechanism towards bridging the gap between the East and the West as well as presenting a realistic perspective on day-to-day life in the Kingdom” that further opened up her network of friends and opportunities in Saudi Arabia.

carol fleming 2Carol was an American spy for the CIA for almost 20 years . She  visited over 100 countries and conducted highly sensitive covert operations before meeting and falling in love with  Saudi diplomat, Abdullah Othman Al-Ajroush.

Their happy marriage was short lived and lasted only  7 years when he succumbed to cancer while she  herself was courageously battling breast cancer.

In March 2009, Carol and her husband traveled from Saudi Arabia to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas for him to receive treatment.carol fleming 3

By mid January 2010, when her husband’s health deteriorated rapidly, he wished to see his mother one last time and die at home in his own country. Unfortunately at that time , Carol  was hospitalized due to reactions from aggressive chemotherapy. She sadly recounts that their final conversation was via Skype.  He was able to hold on until he saw his Mother and then he passed away on Feb. 8, 2010.

Her latest blog update informs readers that Carol has been hospitalized after her cancer took a turn for the worse and  due to heavy pain medication she is not able to read or write.

On behalf of all her well wishers, we offer support and prayers for this brave lady.
