Prince Charles & Princess Diana arrived in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on the last stage of their Middle East tour in 1968. They were treated to a day at the races with the jockeys competing for a Cup named after the royal couple.
The Royal couple also took a tour around the historic Masmak fortress in Riyadh. Princess Diana visited a home for handicapped children. Later the couple were taken into the desert for a banquet in a Bedouin tent with members of Saudi Royal Family.
Two Saudi princes joined in a traditional sword dance to honour their guests. The couple were given a portrait showing the Princess in traditional Muslim headdress.
