The fish apparently stabbed the man in the neck causing severe bleeding. He was swimming in an area where swimming was banned due to the presence of sea creatures like the one that killed the man.
According to the police, it appeared that the fish was attracted to a searchlight that the swimmer was carrying. The man was swimming in a banned area on the eastern coastline of the Gulf kingdom.
Ajel News quoted Colonel Khaled Al Arqoubi, the coast guard spokesman saying that the victim had defied a ban by swimming at night in that area of the east coast. He added that fishes that get attracted to artificial lights and those that get provoked easily frequent the seas in the prohibited area.
