King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia appeared on state television for the first time since his  back surgery on Nov 17.

The appearance dismissed rumours of his “clinical death” which was being circulated on the media, when the King who is in his 80’s failed to make a public appearance.

Middle East newspaper  Al Bawaba made a public apology to readers for publishing a story, reporting the King as being in a state of “clinical death”.

On Monday, Crown Prince Salman assured the public  over the good health of the king, state news agency SPA reported.

In footage broadcasted on state television, the King appeared in good health and can be seen   receiving members of the royal family in Riyadh.
