A Saudi court made a prompt ruling to jail a father until he gave the baby he kept with him back to his mother.
This comes in the wake of a new system introduced by the justice ministry to end legal cases speedily instead of keeping them pending for several weeks and months after citizens complained of the normally slow pace of court rulings.A case was filed by the mother against her former husband for kidnapping their son after he refused to comply with the court ruling awarding her custody of the baby, Sabq news reported.
According to the ruling by the court, the father was guilty of taking the baby from his ex-wife and moving him to a different location and would thus spend time in jail until the mother is reunited with her baby.
This decision was implemented and the father was jailed until the mother took her baby back. Citizens of Saudi Arabia have expressed overwhelming support to the decision of the court to use force to apply the ruling promptly. This strict implementation is considered a positive breakthrough and new landmark in the Saudi legal system.
