Ahead of Saturday’s nation-wide driving protest, the Saudi Ministry of Interior has issued a warning to everyone in Saudi against illegal demonstrations organized for lifting the ban on driving for women in the kingdom.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the interior ministry reminded that Saudi Arabia prohibits the disruption of social peace. This means that gatherings and demonstration for allowing women to drive in the kingdom will be considered as violations.
Authorities have warned that they will crack down the driving campaign and that they will show zero tolerance in the matter. The ministry stressed that “all competent authorities will apply the regulations against violators firmly and vigorously,” quoted Gulf News.
Activists have organized a driving campaign for women on Saturday, 26 October in defiance of the ban on women from driving in Saudi.
