Ministry-of-LabourIn coordination with the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Labor in Saudi Arabia announced on Wednesday that recruitment of Ethiopians has been put on hold temporarily, reported Al Arabiya News.

The ministry will first conduct studies and analyse the situation regarding the high crimes rates reported against Ethiopians in the past weeks. According to a statement by the ministry, a final decision will be taken after completing the assessment and after consulting with relevant authorities.

Earlier, the Chairman of the National Committee for Recruitment, Saad Baddah, urged the kingdom to immediately stop recruiting workers from Ethiopia after many violent crimes, including murders of children, were reported. Baddah added that these workers must first undergo psychological tests to confirm that they are in good health and fit for work.
