Media spokesman of the General Organization of Railways, Mohammed Abu Zaid, said that the incident occurred due to bad weather conditions and strong winds blowing over the region causing thick sand to settle on the railway tracks.
He added that a maintenance team is deployed along the railway line to inform the current status and give guidance. Train drivers have also been warned to take precautions and reduce the speed in bad weather conditions.
The railway maintenance team worked on the situation, lifted the front wheels and placed it back on the track. Another train was sent to the location to transport the passengers. Abu Zaid sought apologies for the delay that was caused by the incident, adding that delays are to be expected in such weather conditions.
