Minutes after withdrawing SR 40,000 from a bank in the Malaz area of Riyadh, Saudi poet Qablan Al-Sewedy was robbed of the money by unidentified men.
Al-Sewedy told local newspapers that he returned from the bank at noon on Sunday, carrying the money in a bag and drove off in his car to one of the trading markets in Omar Bin Abdulaziz street. He put the money between some clothes and papers in the front seat and was only away for two minutes. Upon return, he found to his horror, that the glass was smashed and the money had disappeared.
Local witnesses say that they saw a tall, black man, seemingly Ethiopian who seemed to have fled the scene after comitting the crime. Local Police say they receive such cases in Riyadh on a regular basis.
