Saudi teenager Khalid Shaeri has lost 150kg since he was admitted to a specialised hospital in the Kingdom for treatment two months back. The boy initially weighed around 610kg.

Shaeri presently weighs 460kg and doctors expect his weight to continue dropping with continued medical treatment, diet and exercise. Dr Ayed Al Qahtani, a consultant at the hospital, told Sabq newspaper that they believe he will continue to lose weight and will be able to lead a normal life.

Shaeri was moved to the King Fahd Medical City in the capital city of Riyadh four months back. More than 30 medical staff members and civil defence men used a special crane and a bed imported from the U.S for this process.

Believed to be the heaviest man in the world before treatment, Shaeri had been confined to his room for many years because of health problems caused by his weight before he was carried to hospital on orders by the Custodian of the two holy mosques, King Abdullah.
